The Respiratory Dust Light Scattering Instantaneous Indicator System, successfully researched by the Research and Testing Services Division of the British Health and Safety Executive Board, is a monitoring system for the measurement of non-fibrous respiratory dust (see photo). The system meets the BS1259 standard, is intrinsically safe, a single microprocessor installed in industrial sites can be used to control downhole eight dust detectors. According to the collected and plotted data, it can directly provide the confidence level of the dust concentration for the monitoring work site. This article also describes the results and environmental tests performed in the laboratory
