Traditional Chinese art has a long history, leaving a rich legacy from ancient times to the present. As a historiography subject, art history plays a very important role in elaborating and arranging the changes of Chinese art. The traditional art historiography has been written continuously from the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, which has provided abundant text materials for the study of the modern art history. However, the traditional art historiography, driven by the style of appreciation, often focuses on biographies and writings.
