Although vancomycin is clinically widely used in the treatment of patients with endocarditis, no data have so far publicly disclosed the concentration of vancomycin in human heart tissues. This article reports the results of vancomycin pharmacokinetics in serum, heart valves, subcutaneous tissue and muscle following vancomycin infusion in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Thirty-three adult patients with normal renal function underwent cardiac surgery. Thirteen women, mean age 59.7 years old, average weight 64.7kg; 20 men average weight 78.8kg, average age 50.4 years old. Patients received intravenous vancomycin immediately prior to surgery and 9 hours prior to surgery at a dose of 15 mg / kg, respectively, over 30 minutes.
