Polymerization of tetrahydrofuran, a polybutylene glycol (PTMG) with molecular weight below 3000, is an important industrial raw material. We have shown in the previous report that BF_3-epichlorohydrin (ECH) initiates a higher initiation efficiency when tetrahydrofuran (THF) is polymerized. On the basis of this, it is hoped that water can be added to the polymerization system to control the molecular weight of the product.
