According to the “Catalog of Chinese Local Records,” there are over 8,200 kinds of local chimes, many of which are scattered abroad, collected by Japan, France, the United States and Canada. Only China has only one country in existence. In order to preserve the motherland’s literature, develop the national culture and meet the research needs both at home and abroad, the Beijing Library extensively searched through various channels, mainly in the form of international exchanges, to collect local records scattered abroad and to produce microfilm. The bibliographic press publishes these films and selects nearly 100 species of local gazes which are now in Tibet and rare in China. They are compiled into series and photocopied for publication.
