杭稚英是民国上海最富盛名的月份牌画家和商业美术家。他一生历经了从家乡海宁的童年时期、商务印书馆学艺生涯、独立画室发展初期、“稚英画室”成为上海著名商业美术机构的黄金时代,以及租界沦陷后的国画创作和战后画室短暂复苏五个阶段。本文主要就目前杭稚英研究中有关他生平经历的部分进行了分析,力图从第一手资料出发,纠正杭稚英早期经历中的一些误区,完善现有研究中缺失、忽略的部分;更加完整、全面地探讨他早期经历中的家学渊源与在商务印书馆时期的学艺经历,以便更好地理解杭稚英以及“稚英画室”能在中后期阶段蓬勃发展的客观原因和内在逻辑。
Hang Chih-Ying is the most famous monthly artist and commercial artist in Shanghai in the Republic of China. His life went through his childhood from his hometown of Haining, his career as a commercial artist at the Commercial Press and the early stage of the independent studio. The “Chih-Ying Studio” became the golden age of Shanghai’s famous commercial and art institutions and the creation of post-war Chinese painting after the fall of the Concession Studio recovery briefly in five stages. This article mainly analyzes the part about his life experiences in HangZiYing’s research at present, trying to correct some errors in HangZiying’s early experiences from the first-hand information, and to perfect the missing and neglected part in the existing research; more complete and comprehensive To explore the origins of his family in his early experiences and the academic experience in the period of Commercial Press in order to better understand the objective reasons and inner logic of HangZiYing and the “Zhixing Studio” which can flourish in the later period.
