This patent describes a combined system of automatically tuned coupling networks and radiating elements. The system has a coarse-tuning mechanical variable element and an electrically controlled fine-tuning circuit. When the transmitter is powered on and the antenna has not been tuned to the desired frequency, the antenna system begins to auto-tune and ensure that the RF signal is within the predetermined power range. The fine tuning circuit utilizes the servo control voltage of the servo motor control system to change the small variable series inductance; the method is to vary the variable series inductance by the change of the permeability of the ferrite core. The ferrite core is located next to the signal path and its change in permeability is controlled by the signal.
