新疆地矿厅、地勘局下属县团级单位28个,分布在全疆各地,现有在职职工9316人,主要肩负着全疆的地质勘查和多种经营工作,队伍流动分散,工作环境艰苦。现年35岁以下青年有3957人(28岁以下青年3021人),共青团员总数1486名,绝大多数战斗在生产第一线,是地矿工作的一支生力军。所以,做好青年工作在当前至关重要。
