《材料研究学报》原名《材料科学进展》,创刊于1987年,双月刊,每期112页。由国家自然科学基金委员会、中国材料学会共同主办,并由基金委工程与材料科学部和中国科学院金属研究所共同承办。1988～1990年统计研制的《中文核心期刊要目总览》将《材料科学进展》定为物理学类核心期刊第23位。1992年北京大学图书馆专门筛选了材料科学类核心期刊,共选出中文材料类核心期刊42种,其中《材料科学进展》居第3位(计载文量26,文摘量67,引文量74,合
“Journal of Materials Research” Formerly known as “Progress in Materials Science”, founded in 1987, bimonthly, each 112 pages. Sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Chinese Society of Materials, it is co-hosted by the Foundation Committee of Engineering and Materials Science and the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
