今年“五四”青年节是共青团建立七十五周年纪念日。为了纪念“五四”和建团七十五周年,共青团中央和全国青联作出决定,对在社会主义现代化建设中表现突出,作出重大贡献的先进青年颁发“中国青年五四奖章”,并在今年“五四”青年节期间首次颁发。 设立“中国青年五四奖章”,目的在于贯彻落实《中共中央关于加强社会主义精神文明建设若干重要问题的决议》精神,进一步加大和宣传当代青年先进典型的力度,在广大青年中形成崇尚先进、学习先进的风气,引导和激励广大青年在新的历史时期继承和发扬“五四”光荣传统,积极投身改革开放和社会主义现代化建设事业中,在建设有中国特色社会主义的伟大实践中健康成长,建功立业。
