中铁十八局集团有限公司的前身是铁道兵第八师,曾参加过许多著名的重点工程建设,特别是承建闻名中外的“引滦入津”工程,荣获国家优质工程金奖,被称为“全国重点工程建设的样板”。面对激烈的市场竞争中,公司响亮地提出了“敢为人先,争创一流”的奋斗目标,以承建高、大、难、尖工程作为企业的经营特色,拥有世界一流的隧道施工设备TBM全断面掘进机等各类生产机械设备3000余台(套),综合机械化施工程度达到80％以上。凭着雄厚的科技实力和特别能战斗的队伍,中铁十八局集团公司创造了诸多个“第一”:
