The party and the state have always attached importance to labor protection work. When the People’s Republic of China was founded, the Central People’s Government set up the Ministry of Labor and the Labor Department to set up the Department of Labor Protection. The labor departments at all levels set up the Labor Protection Division and the department responsible for labor protection. Many government ministries successively set up agencies specializing in labor protection work in their production or personnel departments, such as the Ministry of Fuel Industry, which set safety under the direct leadership of the minister.
