Effective and accurate assessment of translation quality has always been the ideal of translating the world. To conduct an in-depth discussion of it can not only enrich the research paradigm of translation criticism, but also enable researchers to better understand the essence of translation. Julian House’s book, Translation Quality Assessment: Past and Present, takes an important step in this direction. In the book, House pointed out the shortcomings of the current assessment model of translation quality. Based on the previous model (1977, 1997) and the interdisciplinary research paradigms and achievements, Haus presented the most up-to-date and comprehensive model ). This article will introduce the content and features of this book and analyze its implications for today’s translation studies.
