胡佛大坝在世界水利工程中占据重要地位,堪称20世纪西方科技史上最有影响力、最有挑战性的公共水利工程之一。作为世界上经典的大型水坝,胡佛水坝的建设运营适逢美国上世纪经济危机爆发之后与工业化建设如火如荼之时,与当今中国的大型水坝工程建设所面临的形势有某种程度的相似性。对胡佛大坝工程建设的经济、技术背景,以及大坝建设方案的酝酿过程、决策和建设中的关键环节的梳理,也许能为我们正视与思考大坝工程建设的用途与前景提供一些启发。
Hoover Dam occupies an important position in the world water conservancy project and is one of the most influential and challenging public water conservancy projects in the history of western science and technology in the 20th century. As a classic large-scale dam in the world, the construction and operation of the Hoover Dam coincided with a certain degree of similarity with the situation facing the construction of large-scale dams in China today when the United States was in full swing with the industrialization after the outbreak of the economic crisis in the last century. The economic and technical background of the Hoover Dam construction as well as the brewing process, decision-making and key links in the dam construction project may provide some enlightenment for us to face and think about the purpose and prospect of dam construction .
