1990年4月19日,我国驻斯里兰卡使馆在科伦坡新使馆举行了开馆仪式。当来宾们走进灯光明亮的宴会厅时,首先映入眼帘的是一幅连绵起伏、山峦重叠、飞瀑直泻、云涛缭绕,富有浓郁中国艺术韵味的画。走近细看才惊奇地发现,这不是他们所熟悉的中国水墨画,而是一幅独特的中国大理石壁画。 斯里兰卡文化部官员吉德拉南德·阿贝赛格拉看了画后对记者说:“这是一件了不起的珍品,太神奇了,看了给人以美的享受。”当现总理西丽玛沃·班达拉奈克夫人听到这是一幅不用笔墨光用石板组成的画时,感到十分惊讶!马来西亚驻斯大使说:“这是一个奇迹,是壁画艺术的奇葩。”印度公使K·米特先生讲:“如此高雅、抽象,而具有浓烈中国绘画韵味的壁画,是用天然大理石大块板材的自然花纹和色彩创作出来的真不简单,中国这种壁画形式别的国家是没有的,希望能多搞几幅介绍给世界知道。”斯里兰卡总统拉纳辛哈·普雷马达萨也曾于90年8月14日在中国使馆兴致勃勃地观看了该壁画。
On April 19, 1990, our embassy in Sri Lanka held the opening ceremony at the new embassy in Colombo.
