忧国忧民,历来是中华民族精神的一种重要表现。忧国,是对国家的兴衰无比关心;忧民,是对人民的疾苦无比牵挂。忧国忧民,换言之,即是胸怀天下,爱国爱民。古代的爱国志士,忧国忧民的表现形式虽有不同,有在国家危亡之际挺身而出、以身报国者;有为人民的苦痛奔走呼号、终生为民解难者;更有以救国救民为己任、鞠躬尽瘁死而后已者。他们表现出来的共同精神,都是把个人的生命与国家、民族的前途命运紧紧连在一起,对国家的兴亡、民族的生存和人民的生活倾心关怀,时刻不忘。唐朝大诗人杜甫爱国忧国发悲吟,医学家孙思邈爱民为民除疾痛,讲的就是唐朝有志之士忧国忧民的故事。忧国忧民作为中华民族的传统精神,对我们继承发扬民族遗产,更好地报效社会主义祖国和广大人民,把爱国爱民的精神提升到新的高度,有着深刻的现实意义。
