The three doctors talked about the need for better cancer treatment for the poor. In India, Dr. Sarbani Ghosh Laskar is one of 14 radiation oncologists at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. The hospital registers about 25,000 new cancer cases each year, 75% of which are in advanced stages. ”We have a large number of patients. We treat about 450 cases with radiotherapy facilities every day. From the observer’s point of view, this workload drives us crazy, but it is not depressing, because we really cure many patients." The only frustration is that there are too many patients and they have to wait. We provide free treatment for about 60% of patients.
