目前,国内汽车供油系用管均采用铜管,每辆车需用铜1~2公斤,对全国汽车行业来说,铜的耗量是一个很大的数字。如果汽车供油系各管路采用一种用钢带卷制的铜焊双层管壁低碳钢管(简称双层卷焊钢管),将为国家节约大量的重要战略物资——铜。双层卷焊钢管早在一九三六年就相继在德国、英国和美国开始生产,几个资本主义国家垄断了这种管子的生产专利。上海金属软管厂受我厂委托,战胜了重重困难,经过该厂领导、工人、技术人员的共同努力,仅用半年时间就试制出第一批汽车供油系用规格为φ8×0.75毫米的双层卷焊钢管,打破了资本主义国家的技术垄断,填补了我国的空白。

Double-layer welded pipe began as early as 1936 in Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States, and several capitalist countries monopolized the production of such pipes. Shanghai Metal Hose Factory was entrusted by our factory to overcome various difficulties. After the joint efforts of the factory leaders, workers and technicians, the first batch of automobile fuel supply system was trial-produced in the past six months with the specification of φ8 × 0.75mm Double-rolled steel pipe, breaking the capitalist country’s technology monopoly, to fill the gaps in our country.
