On August 25, 1990, 751 eminent persons from all walks of life in South Korea launched the founding meeting of the South Korean Language Education Research Association of corporation in Seoul. Founded in July 1969, South Korean Association for the Study of Chinese Language Education (abbreviated as South Korean Literary Association and President Nan Guang 祜) is composed of many experts, scholars, professors, primary and secondary school teachers and language workers. For more than 20 years, the council has conducted research on south Korean language education, pronunciation, vocabulary standardization, establishment of commonly used Chinese characters, establishment of a mixed system of Korean and Chinese characters, and negative effects of a system of exclusive use of Korean characters
