The Austrian school was founded by Carl Menger, represented by Ludwigs von Mises and Friedrich Hayek, and by Rothbard, while the Chicago School Milton Friedman , George Stigler, Gary Becker and other representatives. The Austrian School and the Chicago School are both representatives of liberalism, all of whom are successors to the laissez-faire economics of classical economists such as Adam Smith. However, for the same economic event, they have different economic theories and economic analysis methods. Taking the Great Crisis as an example, this article explores the different analyzes of the Great Crisis between the Austrian and Chicago schools and reveals the internal causes of the divergence between the two schools.
