This article describes a new type of quad linear CCD device. This device allows a set of bus bars common to both registers on the same side of the array to have serial and parallel clock signals. It is possible for a developer to make use of the specific mechanisms for charge transfer inside and outside of the two registers. The CCD array with 384, 808, 1728 and 3456 sensors has been successfully developed with a pitch of 8 μm. The inhomogeneity of the sensor is less than ± 5%.
