A survey of 10 battery factories and 1 lead smelter in two suburb counties in Shanghai found that the geometric mean concentration of 239 air lead samples at 51 operation points was 0.042 mg / m3, and the over-standard rates of operation points and samples were 50.98% and 54.39%, respectively. The geometric mean blood lead and ZPP levels of 196 lead workers were 1.68μmol / L and 2.67μmol / L, respectively, which were significantly higher than those of control workers. The study also found that when the blood lead level was 1.68μmol / L, the lead, exposed workers’ neurological, digestive and muscular joint symptoms changed significantly compared with the control workers. Multivariate stepwise regression analysis found that the main factor affecting the level of lead in lead exposed workers was hygiene.
