All ~ (99) mTc generators contain several radionuclide impurities, and the amount of this nuclide detected depends on the accuracy of the assay. The activity and relative activity of these nuclides are most markedly affected by the methods used to produce the generator, but there are also significant differences between the methods used by different manufacturers. From a patient safety point of view, it does not matter if the generator has these nuclides, as long as the eluent is pure. This article, including several articles dealing with impurities in eluents, also highlights the importance of elution purity. However, the nuclide remaining in the generator has not drawn any attention. Although there is a growing interest in short-lived nuclides remaining in the generator, in practice they are not significant.
