1956年12月北京全国文联礼堂召开中国摄影学会成立大会,参加大会的代表有全国各地的摄影家、摄影记者、书刊画报编辑和摄影教学机构的教育工作者共计104人。1978年到1982年,全国性摄影团体共有三家,除了中国摄影家协会(中国摄影学会1979年更名为“中国摄影家协会”),还有1979年成立的全国卫生摄影协会和1981年成立的中国对外贸易广告摄影学会,这两家开创了行业摄影协会的先河。彼时的山东省设有中国摄影家协会 In December 1956, the Beijing Literary Federation held a founding meeting of the Chinese Photographic Society.
