The effect of rare earth element yttrium on the microstructure and properties of 9Cr-1Mo weld used in supercritical power plant was studied. Yttrium oxide was added to the weld metal from the electrode coating by a droplet transfer method. The yttrium content with the best overall properties was determined through tests of mechanical properties, phase change point test, diffusion hydrogen content measurement, and the like Furthermore, RRY was 1.5, and actual welding joints and commercial electrodes without rare earth elements were subjected to room temperature tensile test, series impact test, high temperature tensile test and hardness test. The results show that the properties of REE-containing group are higher than those of rare earth-free sample. The analysis of metallographic, SEM and XDR shows that the second phase is the main reason for improving the performance, especially the low-temperature impact properties.
