美国空军X-37B迷你航天飞机在2015年5月20日从佛罗里达州的卡纳维拉尔角由一枚“宇宙神”一5型火箭送入太空。这是可以重复使用的无人驾驶X-37B空天飞机开展“轨道试验飞行器”的第四次行动。根据美国空军快速能力办公室飞行任务部主任对外公开的消息,X-37B的本次升空将对多项空间技术进行测试,其中之一为测试新型推进系统,能够提升X-37B的在轨机动能力。X-37B此次将使用空军研究实验所和航天与导弹系统研究中心联合开发的一套试验性推进系统,同时X-37B将进行美国航天局的一项先进材料调查。
The U.S. Air Force X-37B mini-space shuttle was launched into space on May 20, 2015 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, by a “Cosmic God” -type 5 rocket. This is the fourth operation of a reusable unmanned X-37B space shuttle to launch an “orbital test aircraft.” According to a public announcement by the director of the mission of the US Air Force’s Quick Competence Office, the launch of the X-37B will test a number of space technologies, one of which will be the testing of a new propulsion system that will enhance on-orbit maneuvers of the X-37B ability. The X-37B will use a pilot propulsion system jointly developed by the Air Force Research Laboratory and the Space and Missile Systems Research Center, while the X-37B will conduct an advanced material survey by NASA.
