Sixty-three prospective follow-up studies were performed on 63 patients with acute cerebral infarction to measure the skin temperature at the 5 measuring points (forehead, chest, forearm, leg, and foot) at rest and after bilateral thermal stimulation. There were 42 males and 21 females, 44 hemispheric infarcts, 19 cerebral infarcts (medulla oblongata and 8 pons). Skin temperature was recorded with a digital thermometer within 1 to 7 days after infarction (mean, 4 days). The temperature was recorded in January and June after illness. During the 6-month follow-up period, 60% (38/63) of patients complained of contralateral deflation compared with ipsilateral cold. Among them, 59% (26/44) had hemisphere infarction and 63% (12/19) had cerebral infarction. No patient complained of the same side cold. Measured
