Korngold and Pressman used radionuclide labeled antibodies to demonstrate that anti-specific animal tumor antibodies prepared from experimental animals contained antibodies taken up by the tumor. In 1957, Pr-essman et al. demonstrated that radioactive iodine-labeled antibodies could be used for animal diagnostic applications, and that radionuclide imaging could localize tumors that take up antibodies.
