Maine Bar Harbor News: The etiology and treatment cues of so-called lentiviral diseases such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob syndrome may come from a naturally occurring mouse variant of the Jackson lab study. Experts from the National Institute of Neurological, Communicable Diseases and Stroke (NINCDS) are tracking at least 2,000 patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob syndrome. Mutants of the sponge-like brain called “gray chatter” mice are derived from native black strain mice and show clear, rhythmic chatter two weeks after birth. Richard L Sidman, a professor of neuropathology at Harvard University, said pathological studies show “spongiform encephalopathy,” in which mice ’s brain is full of cavities “full of pores like sponges.” Electron microscopy examination of the brain
