本文以山西植被历史变迁为主线,对山西在漫长的历史过程中,由于垦殖开始甚早,历代战乱不止,盲目的毁林毁草活动从未停止,致使植被覆盖率逐代锐减,而自然灾害逐代增加的事实进行了阐述,以致造成昔日的山青水秀、林草丰茂,变成了今日满目的荒山秃岭,一些地区“十年九旱、水贵如油”。给农业生产带来了许多困难。文章旨在告诫人们破坏植被带来的严重恶果,以及保护植被的重大意义。
