我是下乡知识青年。在学习植棉过程中,常遇到移栽棉花因缓苗问题影响正常生育。从1973年我们设想,让棉苗在钵内的根系合理生长——钵内主根大量分生有效侧根,抑制10厘米以下主根分生无效侧根。这样,移栽时,叶片光合力较强,有效侧根多,吸收力强;无效侧根少,移栽伤根少,移栽只起蹲苗作用,不缓根,不缓苗,促使早发稳长夺高产。经过几年研究和实践,这个新育苗法是符合棉花生长规律的。1978年亩产皮棉突破250斤。由于此法是利用钵间空隙控制湿度以促进根系生长,所以我们定名为“扶苗促根——空隙控湿育苗法”。
