傈僳族族名,始见于唐代,后出现多种不同写法,其自称和他称,先后有栗粟、卢蛮、傈僳、力苏、力些、栗些、力梭、黎苏、力苏、俚苏、傈(?)、傈苏、俐苏、离苏等,均为同音异写之别。今通称傈僳。傈僳族渊源于南迁的古氐羌人,与彝族、纳西族等关系密切;其先民早期分布于金沙江两岸及今四川西南一带,以后逐渐南徙,明代迁至云南西北部的澜沧江、怒江流域,东部在丽江、北胜等地与纳西族、彝族、白族等杂居,西部在澜沧江流域与怒族、独龙族等杂居。

Today known as 傈 僳. The Lisu originates from the ancient Qiongqiang people moving southward and closely related to the Yi and Naxi ethnic groups. Its ancestors were located in both sides of the Jinsha River and in the southwest of Sichuan nowadays. Later on, they moved southward to the Lancang River in the northwest of Yunnan in the Ming Dynasty, In the Nujiang River valley, the eastern part is mixed with the Naxi, Yi and Bai ethnic groups in Lijiang and Beisheng in the eastern part, and the Nu and Dulong ethnic groups in the Lancang River in the western part.
