Thistle is native to China and has a long history of planting. According to the “Zhou Li” records, as early as the Zhou dynasty, pipa was cultivated by the court as a treasure. According to legend, this tree was originally produced in Jiajiang, Sichuan Province. When Han Wudi built the “Shanglin Garden”, 10 eucalyptus trees were transported from Jia River, and they were known as different trees. After Tang Dezong Li became a proper emperor, the Xiashu was listed as a tribute, and then the plantings gradually expanded to the north and south. The poem of the Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi, “The Chujiangming Riverside on the Huai-Shan Mountain, and the Yongzheng Forest on the May” is a grand description of the planting of the alfalfa at that time.
