大学英语精读教学长期以来沿循封闭静态的“精讲”模式,仅停留在语言技术层面对学生进行词汇、语法等语言知识的机械灌输,而无法在“超语言”义场中对学生进行批判精神和人文素质的培养,从而造成高校英语教学的文化负载向运行。奥康纳的“散点认知”理论强调深化语言技能与人文知识的有机融合,培养学生的思辨能力和批判精神,以批判为中心,以知识为基础,以理解为手段;途径是思辨,形式是英语。这种三位一体的教学方法会显著提高学生的综合素质和创新能力,从而对大学英语精读教学具有积极的正载向调控作用。
