Chinese scholar Jia Yi and American poet Ellen Poe stumbled upon an ominous bird in distress and wrote poems with similar structures but completely different attitudes. Through the comparison of the two works, this article analyzes the differences between the two poets in beliefs and death concepts. One excused the spiritual crisis with the scalable beliefs of Confucianism and Taoism, and overcome the fear of death by the life and death avoidance tactics. One of them persisted in the creation of art with aesthetic perseverance, Heaven beyond the death.
