Glaucoma is a neurodegenerative disease caused by a variety of factors. Excessive intraocular pressure can damage the optic nerve and cause permanent loss of vision. Although the basic pathophysiological mechanisms of glaucoma have not been established, changes in blood flow in ocular tissues such as optic nerve, retina, choroid, and iris are important risk factors for glaucoma. Due to the limited cognition, measurement methods and the lack of treatment of optic nerve damage caused by different factors, people have an obstacle to the understanding of glaucoma. Although researchers are constantly accumulating evidence that changes in ocular blood flow play an important role in the pathogenesis of glaucoma, in most cases, the relationship between changes in ocular blood flow and the risk of glaucoma, They all hold diverse and even contradictory conclusions. In this article, we review the different aspects of glaucoma and the effects of ocular blood flow on the development of the disease.
