在盘片的非读出面印刷标签,主要原因有二:识别盘片、增强盘片外在的视觉体现。无论是功能上的需要还是盘片装饰的需要,标签印刷都采用分离的离线工艺进行。在盘片上印刷图像的技术有很多选择。光盘自动生产工艺结束后,盘片存放在串轴上,通常被人工移走,放到小推车上然后送到印刷部门。取决于工厂的大小,可能有一台或几台印刷机,紧邻生产线或位于独立的车间。印刷工艺发展到现在,重新又回到了离线方式。在早期采用批量生产技术,随后集成生产线流行起来,而印刷就是生产线上的最后一道工艺。初期,在线式的印刷意义很大,但是随着模压周期越来越短,而印刷速度又相对较低,印刷工艺逐渐成为在线生产的瓶颈,影响整条线的生产周期。离线印刷还具有灵活的优势,可以选择不同的印刷机,也可选择不同的印刷方式。
