In recent years, 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG) in erythrocytes has been found to have anti-platelet aggregation and inactivation of thrombin, but the most important function is to regulate the affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen. Under the condition of oxygen, the increase of 2,3-DPG of erythrocytes reduces the affinity of hemoglobin to oxygen, which is beneficial to the release of oxygen.
