The relationship between folklore and pop culture is an important academic issue that is worth discussing nowadays concerning the current literature and art practice and theory. I remember that in the 1990s, as China’s culture and the arts entered a “post-new era” which some scholars called it, there appeared a best-selling book similar to western popular culture. MTV, fashion model shows, popular singers’ tour concerts, soap operas At the time, some scholars believed that this opened up a new era of folk literature and art and truly served the people. Later, due to the introduction of a large number of cultural research theories on popular culture in the West, Western contemporary cultural theory did not greatly acclaim this popular culture, so this specious theory came to an abolition. However, it has left a question in the field of literature and art that is not answered clearly. Is not modern popular culture the modern Chinese folk art? To clarify this issue, we must return to what is folk art and what is popular culture. Work up.
