This year the international community marks the fifth anniversary of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 (SFDRR),in which countries com-mitted to curbing the impact of natural and human-caused hazards.While there has clearly been progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework (UNISDR 2017),the evidence suggests that overall countries are falling short of achieving many of its objectives (UNISDR 2015).
