The author states that since reform and opening,there are two trends in historical study in China.The one is the frame of five productive forms with the key theory of long term feudal society,the other is the trend absorbing the rational composition of western history study represented by the Annales school,and building new Marxist history system with the core of breaking with the long term feudalism.The article analyses the characteristics of Chinese history from multinational state,economic development,commercial economy and city,opposites the long term feudalism,and explains why commercial economy did not develop capitalism in China .
