An effective route to 5-vinylated and N-vinylated benzo[d]oxazole-2(3H)-thiones and benzo[d]thiazole-2(3H)-thiones is described via reaction of acetylenic esters and benzo[d]oxazole-2-thiol and benzo[d]thiazole-2-thiol in the presence of 15 mol%of isoquinoline.
