近年来,我县按照省委、省政府“努力快发展、全面建小康”的总体要求,坚持以科学发展观为指导,以增强县域经济实力和竞争力为目标,在省、地的支持下,经过三年艰苦工作,全县经济和社会事业逐步走出困境,呈现出良好的发展态势。2006年,全县GDP比上年同期增长8.3%,城镇居民人均可支配收入实现8570元,农村人均纯收入达到3892元,经济转型期成为呼玛历史上又一个发展的黄金时期。
