Relatively speaking, as a literary genre, the essay doesn’t receive the same attention as poetry or novels in the literary history. Undoubtedly however, the essay plays a very important role in the literary history and deserves further study. The paper analyzes an essay from Charles Lamb, one of the representatives of the English essay, summarizes his writing styles and features, hoping to offer some hints for further studies in this respect.
