蒙城县往年常因干热风侵袭使小麦减产。1985年秋受长期连阴雨影响,小麦播期延迟了20——30天,从各方面估计,今年小麦生长后期如遭遇干热风,损失必然更为严重。为了预防这一可能发生的灾害,安徽省农业科学院科技情报研究所的研究人员,携带1985年8月的《全国三十烷醇农业应用学术讨论会纪要》、该所的情报调研论文《决定三十烷醇效应的三大主要因素》(见《安徽农业科学》1985年第3期),以及发表在《农林科学实验》1985年第10期上的《使用三十烷醇应注意的几个问题》等文件,向蒙城县委、县政府建议,在小麦生长后期喷施三十烷醇,以确保该县小麦的稳产和争取高产。蒙城县委、县政府接受了这一建议,决定今年先在十方亩小麦上进行喷施示范,并在示范区布点进行小区对比试验,以测计喷施三十烷醇的经济效益,在此基础上取得经验,再决定明年在全县范围内推广的措施。
