词汇学习是英语学习中的一个重要环节。英国著名语言学家威尔金斯说过“没有语法,人们可以表达的事物寥寥无几;而没有词汇,人们则无法表达任何事物”。如果把语言结构比作语言的骨架,那么词汇为语言提供了重要的器官和血肉。由此可见,词汇是语言不可或缺的重要组成部分,是语言大系统赖以生存的支柱。本文从语境与词汇学习之间的关系作为出发点,分别从通过语境来了解词汇的概念意义、内涵意义、文化意义和提高猜词能力几方面探讨了语境在词汇学习中的作用。
Vocabulary learning is an important part of English learning. Well-known British linguist Wilkins said: “There are few things people can express without grammar, and without words people can not express anything.” If the language structure is likened to the skeleton of the language, words provide vital organs and flesh to the language. This shows that vocabulary is an indispensable part of the language is an important component of the language system to survive. This paper starts from the relationship between context and vocabulary learning and explores the role of context in vocabulary learning through the contextual understanding of the conceptual meaning, connotation, cultural significance and the ability to guess words.
