Duzanci’s “Culture, Power, and State: North China’s Rural Areas, 1990-1942” (hereinafter referred to as “Culture, Power and State”) from a micro perspective on the rural community in North China during the period between the end of the Qing government and Japan’s control of North China Analyzes and expounds the extremely realistic topic of the interaction between state power modernization and rural social culture network. After the end of the New Deal of the late Qing Dynasty, under the impact of the encroachment of the state, the control mode of the state power through the benign interaction of integration into the rural culture network and rural society was destroyed. After this benign interaction relying on the traditional culture network was destroyed, the countryside was huge As a result, state power can no longer effectively control the countryside as it did before the twentieth century. The book Culture, Power and the State warns how to treat traditional culture in the process of modernization.
