The use of a new indicator of vanadium has established a very sensitive method for the determination of trace vanadium by catalytic kinetic spectrophotometry. It is based on the reaction of vanillin with potassium bromate under the action of vanadium (V) in the presence of ascorbic acid in a hot dilute sulfuric acid solution to reduce the absorbance. The sensitivity of the method was 3.11 × 10 ~ (-13) g / ml. The measurement range is 0-12 ng / 25 ml and 12-20 ng / 25 ml vanadium, respectively. The method can be used for the determination of trace vanadium in water, human hair and coal samples.
