This article reports on an 8: 1 data selector and a 1: 8 data distributor implemented with AlGaAs / GaAs heterojunction bipolar transistors. The circuit is designed for optical communications and has been tested at data rates greater than 6 Gb / s. To our knowledge, these are the fastest 8-bit MUX / DEMUX circuits ever reported.
