22.1 Introduction In this chapter, a new model called Discrete / Mixed Wave Prediction is proposed, which incorporates some of the Pierson-Tick-Bear model and the parametric model. It is different from the hybrid parametric model, in which the entire direction spectrum is spread in all directions. It also differs from PTB’s handling of source functions by applying a parameter growth in the band-space to simulate the interaction between nonlinear waves and waves. In the new model, using the wind-wave instability mechanism consistent with Abaco observations, each band has a larger growth rate and the parametric growth of the parameters is given by the ε-ξ law (ε is the dimensionless total energy , ξ is the dimensionless wind area). In contrast to the PTB growth model, which is based on the parametric growth and balance of ε_1 (downwind band dimensionless energy)
